Vintage-Style Scrapbook Envelope with Tuck Pockets
We have lovingly assembled this kit to help you create a vintage-style envelope for storing your treasured photos, letters, keepsakes, and memorabilia.
Kit Contents:
Serenity Fair exclusive wide washi tapes and a die-cut sticker, die-cut tag, decorative ribbon, card stock (A5 size), large heavyweight envelope
Additional Materials & Tools Needed:
White glue or contact cement, scissors, hole punch, ruler
Optional items: decorative stamps and inks, and vintage-style die cuts, paper cutter, metallic acrylic paint and a small paintbrush
1)Take the sheet of A5 card stock and cut it in half lengthwise. (A paper cutter is recommended here, but using scissors and a ruler is also fine.) One half will form the bottom pocket. Take the other half of the cardstock and cut out a triangle shape as shown.
2)Cover one side of the bottom pocket strip with wide washi tape. To limit waste, cut only enough washi tape to cover the surface before peeling away the backing paper and adhering it to the card stock. Any leftover washi tape can be saved for another project. Carefully smooth out any air bubbles or creases by rubbing the tape surface by hand.
3)Decorate the triangle card with washi tape in a similar manner as above.
4)Optional step: Brush metallic paint over the top edge of each card piece. Allow the paint to dry.
5)Attach the bottom pocket strip (washi tape side up) by gluing its left, right, and bottom sides to the front of the envelope, at the bottom. Do not apply glue along the top edge of the card, as this will serve as the pocket opening. Position the card strip so it’s right edge is flush with the right edge of the envelope.
6)Attach the triangle to the envelope in a similar manner as above, gluing it flush with the left edge of the envelope. Leave the slanted edge of the triangle unglued, as this forms the pocket opening. The triangle will overlap the rectangular pocket previously attached.
7)On the back of the envelope, apply washi tape to the exterior of the flap. Carefully trim off any excess washi tape. Gently push any jagged edges of the tape along the flap's edge to create a clean finish. The flap interior can also be decorated with washi tapes, and or stamping
8)Optional step: Brush metallic paint around the edge of the flap. Allow the paint to dry.
9)Optional step: Use appropriate stamps and inks to decorate the back of the envelope below the flap.
10)Use the remaining washi tape, stamps, stickers, and die cuts to decorate the tag. Punch a hole at the top edge of the tag and insert the ribbon.
